Brian J. Foley, Hartford Police Department Deputy Chief, has been a Police Officer for 23 years. He currently has a dual role with HPD. First, he is the Chief of Detectives, overseeing all criminal investigations, from fraud to homicide, in the Investigative Services Bureau. Secondarily, he is also the HPD Public Information Officer, where he handles all communications-related media and social media matters. Deputy Chief Foley is very active in community outreach and violence reduction efforts. He also acts as a department liaison in many political and community positions.
As the Public Information Officer, Deputy Chief Foley has successfully navigated the Capitol City’s communication strategy and approach through many critical and potentially volatile incidents. These incidents include Police Shootings, publicly videoed excessive force, inner city violence and emotional or political protests.
